Divanes have been thriving since the company was establised by the late Stanley Divane, who entered the motor trade in 1935. Stanley decided to go it alone and ventured into business in 1954 and Divanes was born. Stanley sold his first new Volkswagen on the 15th of June 1955 and the business has never looked back since that very day. Sadly Stanley passed away in 1991 having spent the best part of 56-years in the motor trade leaving the business in the capable hands of his sons Denis & John and daughter Philomena, who carry on the family tradition of supplying Volkswagens finest to the local community.

In 1966 he opened the village filling station and garage and in 1973 the garage sought the Datsun franchise. In Dec 82 our Thurles, Co Tipperary branch was opened and the following year a filling station had been added. Our body shop had been established in 1985 in Templederry and had been extended in the mid 90’s. This allowed us to give our customers an overall service package according to their needs and requirements. Business was growing rapidly thanks to our dedicated staff and our strong feeling on customer care. This encouraged Donal Ryan to open yet another branch in Roscrea, Co Tipperary in 1987. Three years later Donal Ryan Car and Van Hire Ltd had been founded which is the only car hire company based in County Tipperary to date, running a fleet of 100 cars and vans. In 1993 Donal Ryan’s was awarded the “Nissan Dealership of the Year”. During 2000 the site at Limerick Rd, Nenagh, Co Tipperary has been acquired. This purchase resulted that in 2003 our Nenagh, Co Tipperary showroom and garage was opened. With that we won the “National Dealership of the Year” Nissan Award for the 3rd time. In the same year our Thurles branch has been completely refurbished. In Autumn 2008 our new state of the art Showroom and Service Department with retail units opened its doors in Roscrea.
